It seems the truth does matter. It certainly did to the 12 jurors who convicted the Orange Jesus of 34 felony counts. And yes, those of us who are terrified by a second term as president did a little dance.
On count number one: guilty; on count number two: guilty; on count number 3 guilty. For two minutes, the rule of law stood tall and the most bigliest of men seemed very, very, very, small.
No doubt, The Don’s world was rocked by the verdict, but the convicted criminal gathered himself, mustered the energy to stick out his chin and make a public statement that once again that actually, the truth doesn’t matter. Knowing the Don, we would have expected nothing else.

So how will this new chapter in the media frenzy that The Don creates and dominates play out in the election? Does it matter to the American people that The Don is a convicted felon? Will Americans fall for his victimization, everything is rigged, the justice department is corrupt and only he can bring proper law and order to our country rants, or will enough of us see through this and truly understand the danger he represents? Does the truth matter? Does the law matter? Does democracy matter? The Don’s trial is over and the jury has spoken, but America is now on trial and the jury is still out.
So what do the democrats do?
Remember that famous line from the movie “Network,” when Albert Finney screams “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!” Well ditto for me.
It’s time for the Democrats and pundits to stop being outraged, scream foul, throwing up their hands with “Can you believe he’s done this?”. Yes, yes, and yes! No more uncomfortable smiles. No more doomsday whining. It’s time to take it to The Don; it’s time to ramp it up and use tactics that he employs.
If the Democrats want to win this fall they have to stop The Don from controlling the narrative. He did it in 2016, and despite all odds won; he did it in 2020 and almost won (a shift of 50,000 or so votes in a few states, from the over 140 million cast would have changed the result in his favor). It doesn’t matter that Biden received more than seven million votes; it doesn’t matter that he was impeached for denying Ukraine money it was promised unless President Volensky spread dirt on Biden; it doesn’t matter that he almost won despite his criminally negligent response to Covid, in which hundreds of thousands needlessly died because of his ineptitude and cruelty. Now that he is a convicted felon, will that matter? The jury is still out on that.
The Don’s newest “can you believe he said it” outrages of the week were to state he wants to create a new reich. Of course he does. I’ve said this and I will say it again: If The Don was in Germany in 1935 instead of Hitler, I believe he would do the same thing as Hitler. Hitler won power by grievance and spreading heinous misinformation about Jews diluting and poisoning pure Aryan blood. Though The Don is not overtly calling out Jews, he is using similar language to dehumanize immigrants.
The other “oh my god can you believe he said it” was to claim the F.B.I and Joe Biden were out to out to kill him. Here’s what he said:

I just came out of the Biden Witch Hunt Trial in Manhattan, the ‘Icebox,’ and was shown Reports that Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, in their illegal and UnConstitutional Raid of Mar-a-Lago, AUTHORIZED THE FBI TO USE DEADLY (LETHAL) FORCE,” Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday night. “NOW WE KNOW, FOR SURE, THAT JOE BIDEN IS A SERIOUS THREAT TO DEMOCRACY. HE IS MENTALLY UNFIT FOR OFFICE — 25TH AMENDMENT!”
Can you believe he took a standard document the F.B.I uses in any search and seizure (including the one for Joe Biden when they searched his residences for classified documents) and twisted it? Of course I can believe it. It doesn’t matter that the F.B.I planned their search knowing he was at his home in New Jersey. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter.
The Don is already sounding the alarm bells about the coming election being rigged. He will not stop. He will get louder, more outrageous, spreading more lies and disinformation. Now that he is a convicted felon his desire for revenge will be off the charts.
The Don’s antics are known. His complete lack of shame and desire for absolute power are apparent. His platform is nothing but grievance and hammering home that they need a strong man to save our country from the abyss. Once again, his capacity for projection is one of his most potent weapons. It boggles one’s mind to think that he can convince millions of Americans that he is the only one who can save our democracy, when he is the one out to tear it down. The Democrats can’t simply talk about how scary things would be under his presidency, but must show it; they need to start to be as provocative and bold as him.
Many wise people have said this, but it bears repeating: often, in politics, the candidate that speaks to the gut is more successful than the person with the best ideas. If the Don is anything, he is a supreme gut-puncher. He’s a dirty fighter. The Democrats can’t show up to a street fight without the proper weapons.
So what do the Democrats have to do? They need to take a page out of The Don’s book and go stark and dark. They don’t even have to lie to do it! Here is my idea for an ad campaign.
As a model use the famous ad campaign on the impact of drugs on the brain. (It doesn’t matter if you believed it or not, it’s powerful imagery-see below.)

The Don wants to own the narrative of American dystopia that only he can save us from. We must take back the narrative and show America the real dystopia another 4 years would bring. No more hand ringing. Democrats need to scare the shit out of people. They need to be bold, unyielding and aggressive. Hand ringing must cease. We need to create powerful imagery that delivers gut punches and haunts them. Let’s jolt Americans out of their stupor and make them experience the gut punch of America with Trump!
