Back in 2016, right wing extremists were promoting Pizzagate, a conspiracy theory that falsely claimed a New York Jewish lawyer had set up a pedophile ring linked to members of the Democratic Party. In addition, there was the offshoot conspiracy called Frizzlegate that claimed Hillary Clinton had participated in a ritual murder of a child. Like hot red pepper flakes, the conspiracy heated up across the internet and led to a man showing up at Ping Pong Pizza in Washington, D.C. with a firearm ready to inflict vigilante justice. Many believe that Pizzagate was a forerunner of Qanon, which continued the egregious myths that Jews stole Christian children and sucked out their blood in ritualistic murders. Once again, the Jews did it!
In some circles, Pizzagate still survives as a real thing, but more importantly, it represents the beliefs that the Democrats who represent the deep state, are vile, despicable people who are at the core of the ruination of our country. After all, what could be worse than being called a pedophile who makes money off underage girls? And that brings us to Jeffrey Epstein, who together with his accomplice Maxine Ghislaine were found guilty of operating a sex ring that recruited underage girls who were pimped for sex. Maxwell is currently serving 20 years in prison and Jeffrey Epstein, who was also convicted, was found hanged in his jail cell. Some believe it was suicide, but many believe he was murdered so he couldn’t reveal information that would expose famous people who were involved with his sex ring. It has been alleged and promoted by the right wing that there is a list with clients of Epstein.
For a long time, the right-wing has foamed at the mouth waiting for the list to be unveiled. They want blood; they want to destroy all the people on that list. The Don promised he would release that list which would expose the horrors of the deep state.
How the right-wing put their faith in a convicted rapist, someone who during a Teen Ms. Universe pageant, just happened to walk in on a number of participants who were not fully clothed, boggles the mind. Then again, the religious right’s ability to follow this amoral person to the end of the earth has been has been consistent and should no longer shocks us. That The Don became their savior has brought us to the death of irony. Cognitive dissonance is no longer a concept with any meaning.
But wait, what do I hear? Is it the sound of conspiracy theorists eating their own? At least for the moment, cognitive dissonance has returned.
Suddenly, the MAGA people are yelling foul. They are furious at Attorney General Pam Bondi who declared she had the Epstein files on her desk only to reverse course and claim there is no list, closing the case. All that build up and hunger to spill blood and finally destroy the deep state taken off the table. For them, it’s like waiting for a meal like no other and having the waiter tell you that the food delivery was thwarted so there is nothing to eat besides stale bread. Outrageous. Outrageous. Not only did we not get to eat the best meal ever, but we are starving and totally pissed. We were duped. And now these betrayed people want to satisfy their hunger with the flesh of The Don and his cover-up cronies. A delicious Shakespearean plot, with a gastronomical twist.
The Don is angry and defending Bondi to those who want her head. He’s posting screeds on Truth Social blaming Obama and Hillary Clinton for creating the Epstein files. The old blame that black guy who isn’t a citizen and a terrorist or that woman who is the ring leader of satanic ritualist murder of children. Rumor has it that in an uncontrollable fit of rage, he even blamed George Washington! They did it! Anything that could come from them is tainted.
For some reason, despite all the egregious, immoral things The Don has perpetrated, this is the one that is breaking through. The irony is (I guess it ain’t dead yet!) is that The Don, who has fostered the conspiracy movement of the deep state and the vileness of the opposition, suddenly has become the subject of the conspiracy theorists by participating in a cover-up.
Why would Bondi and The Don renege on their promise? Do I really need to answer that? I found it darkly comical that photos of Epstein and the Don are easily available and must be known to many of his supporters, and yet the idea that his relationship with Epstein implicates him was cast away like so many of The Don’s transgressions. What did they think The Don was doing at those parties, selling Tupperware? What about the fact that Virginia Giufffre (who sadly died by suicide), who was working as a locker room attendant at Mara-a-Lago, was recruited to be Epstein’s “travel masseuse”? Somehow that was all fine with the MAGA world.
The Don knows what he did or didn’t do with Epstein. He knows he’s done some awful shit. The Don figured he could use the Epstein thing to his advantage, feeding the sugar high of the MAGA world and believed that over time, he could control the narrative and the desire for sugar would dissipate, but he miscalculated. And now, irony of ironies, The Don has become the perpetrator in a new Pizzagate. Of all things, will this be something that the MAGA world makes him pay for? People like Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon and Rush Limbaugh are outraged.
The Wall Street Journal’s story about The Don’s birthday card to Jeffrey Epstein, accompanied by a sketch of a female body with his signature on the her private parts has intensified the drama. Of course, The Don denies ever writing it and is suing the WSJ. He claims he doesn’t draw pictures so it can’t be his letter, though there is evidence of his drawings in the past, some which were actually auctioned off at Sotheby’s. Also worth noting, is how the letter ends: “wishing that “every day be another wonderful secret.”
So let the unruly lions go hunting. Let cognitive dissonance reign once more. Who knows where this will lead, but it’s good to see the man who thinks he is invincible, wince, and realize that his people want to know the truth about what’s in the Epstein files. Is it possible that his MAGA people find out that he supported the pedophile ring? Is it possible that when they find out the truth, they will finally see him as no different than the rest of the deep-staters? One thing is for sure: if The Don wasn’t on the list, he would have satisfied their sugar high.
