Mr. Crypto Morphs into Mr. Kryptonite

I never thought I would say this, but I want to see The Don everywhere, all the time. I want him to be at as many campaign events as possible. I want him up on the podium hugging Ken Paxton, John Husted and other Republicans running for the Senate. We want more of his derisive comments about Ken Paxton’s sartorial style and unappealing looks. I want this because The Crypto king has turned into kryptonite.

For those lawmakers who have stood by him while he has made billions of dollars in unsavory and potentially illegal deals for him and his family; for those that supported his actions in Iran, for those uttered not a peep about Jeffrey Epstein, for those who pretended with him that Americans are doing great, your panic about you electability is laughable. Guess what: You are stuck with him the way peanut butter sticks to the roof of a dog’s mouth.

No sniveling attempt to suddenly create distance matters at this point. All the money in the world can’t save you. All the screaming about how the Democrats will make America into a communist country are ringing hollow. Finally, it seems that enough supporters of The Don are bailing; they are tired of his lying, cheating, and corruption. The anti-hero that thrilled so many is losing his luster; finally people are realizing that the man who promised to fix everything broke it all and they are paying the price.

Farmers are struggling because of the cost of fertilizer. Gas prices are out of control. Food prices are soaring, families are hurting, but The Don continues to chant his mantra that the economic pain is still a “hoax.” His insistence that all is good is insulting to some of his ardent followers.

The Don’s inability to process reality has always been a core issue. When something goes wrong, he notoriously denies any responsibility and blames someone else. Ever since he came down that escalator in 2015 announcing his candidacy, people were enamored with his irreverence, boldness, brashness and projection of strength. He managed to get tens of millions of Americans to forgive or at least look past his despicable actions (Trying to overturn an election on January 6th, being found guilty by a jury of raping E. Jean Carol to name a few.) Americans are superficial and gullible. They want to believe in a savior: The Don provided that for them.

The Don has made grown men in his party grovel at his feet. His grandiosity, outrageous as it is (comparing himself to Jesus!), did not make them question his capacity to be president. It was always a joke. We should stop taking him so seriously. But those who understand his psychopathology have known that underneath it all, this thuggish clown is very small. (If you look back to my original blog (omfgtrumpblog.com ) from 2015, I wrote about this.

Only a month from the midterms, it is all starting to unravel. It seems his approval ratings hit a new low every day, increasing the Democrats chances of winning the House and the Senate. There are races in Kansas, Texas and even Mississippi, Republican strongholds where The Don won by substantial numbers, that are up for grabs. Finally, his uncanny Houdini-like escape acts, which always seem to rescue him from the jaws of defeat, are faltering..

Of course, The Don takes no responsibility for what could be catastrophic losses in the upcoming elections. At every turn, he and his Republican stooges have pushed policies that have turned off the American people: Rather than acknowledge reality, they doubled down. Recently The Don, building on his delusional premise that the problems in the economy were a hoax added that inflation was a “public relations” problem. According to The Don, the messaging has been faulty and guess who is going to have to become his own PR firm to set the narrative straight: Mr. Grandiosity himself. (God, do I have to do everything myself?) Go for it, Don. You show them. All these candidates are nothing without you. All these candidates need you front and center in order for them to win.

“I’m really in to win it. We want to win the midterms,” The Don told a crowd in Ohio. “If you don’t mind, please pretend that I’m on the ballot.” The Don believes the polls are “fake.” “They don’t account for the fact that Trump is out campaigning,” “They never thought this was going to happen.” Yes, Don, now that the savior is on the trail everything will be alright. Once you turn your bright light of greatness on the elections the Republicans will prevail.

Though people are quietly whispering that the best thing for Republican candidates is for The Don to live in a bunker for the next month, The Don is all in. He has always been an unstoppable force because of the spinelessness of his collaborators in the party and absent a kidnapping by his own party, he will be singing his praises, telling everyone how great he is. He has given them so much love and if they truly love him they will vote for Republicans. He even promised to give each American adult $5,000 if the Republicans hold the fort.

Ken Paxton, who may lose his race to James Talarico, is not happy about The Don’s involvement. In a recording Paxton slammed Trump’s midterm convention, telling attendees, “when we did that convention—it dropped our numbers. Everybody’s numbers dropped. Right now? Yeah, not good.” Rumor has it that The Don’s response to this was “If they guy wasn’t that damn ugly I wouldn’t even have to be here campaigning. He’s just gross, but vote for him and imagine you are voting for me.”

On top of his whirlwind campaign tour (that nobody wants him to be doing), he is taking out TV ads with taxpayer money (which is illegal) touting his greatness and achievements and that only he can save us from becoming a communist country.

The Don’s grandiosity and denial of reality, coupled with the Republican Party’s sycophancy and moral turpitude has led to this calamitous moment. They gave a lizard-brain man, without an ounce of concern for anything or anyone, all the power. To ride his tail, they abandon any principles of decency or concern for the people they were elected to serve to serve one man. They have been complicit in allowing The Don to enrich himself while making others’ lives more challenging. Most importantly, they were all in and colluded with him to dismantle our democracy. They bought into his invincibility and sold their souls to the devil. They had many opportunities to stop him, or at least slow him down, but their greed and desire for power led them to give free reign to a craven man who believes only he can fix things. The power they granted him is now the very thing that will lead to their calamitous defeat. And when they are defeated he will look at them all with disdain and say they were all just a bunch of losers anyway.
